Since we decided that we want to move to Sarasota (hopefully September first) there has been a need for some planning anyway, so perhaps it isn't all totally wackadoodle. As it costs two thousand dollars to rent a moving van, we decided to simply leave behind most of the big furniture. Goodbye crappy bed! Goodbye two couches and two loveseats!! Farewell rugs! My dad has a one and a half ton van that he does deliveries in, so we can make do with that and our two vehicles. I want to keep my oak formal dining room table, so pray that I can find a place big enough to fit it into. I also have a couple of puff chair rockers that I am going to take with, but I might get new covers for them. Take a peak at that couch and love seat. Now click your heels together three times and imagine it is made out of purple crushed velvet. Yep. Found a place that does custom furniture, and this stuff actually costs less than my current purple set. Why must I have purple furniture? I don't know. Chris said whatever I want is dip-doodle (yeah, he says nerdy shit like that- no wonder I am crazy about him), but he wants velvet furniture before he dies. Who am I to get in the way of a man's dreams? Here's a link to the site if you are curious (or want tacky furniture like I do) http://shop.coolsofa.com/lafayette-sofa-loveseat-red-velvet/We'll probably just get the sofa and not the loveseat, because I doubt the house we find is going to be ginormous like my house in Wisconsin- but that is ok. It'll save six hundred dollars, and I can spend that on some other ridiculous thing that I probably don't really need. Want to see the chairs? Here ya go. http://www.modernfurnituredecor.com/puchreco.html I have two rockers, and if I get new covers they will be either the "kirby autumn", "orbit poppy", "lafleur noir", "lafleur spice" or "provence garnet" ones. I am sending for swatches, because I am that kind of a girl. If you are totally bored you can see them in the swatches section.
Oh, and here is a rug that I have wanted for years, and am totally going to get from Pier One. The photo really doesn't do it justice, because you can't see the depth of the colors or the cool 3d piled petals. The petals are sort of sculpted instead of flat, and the effect is totally awesome. I might get the round one depending on the shape of the room.
Well, okey dokey. That takes care of the living room, but what about the kitchen? Obviously my Excalibur dehydrator is making the cut, along with the crock pots, and probably the shiny red toaster that I love love love and got from target. There are a few other gadgets that I'll keep, but I don't fancy dragging boxes of dishes, pots, pans, silverware, and all that jazz across the country. Screw that noise, I'll just order newer, prettier shit and have it delivered to my new address. I bet you all are dying to see the wok that I have picked. Say no more, I always try to deliver.

I don't know why I can't post pictures next to each other in a tidy manner on this blog. I must be too dippy to figure it out, but no amount of tinkering is getting it right. Can you tell that I am attracted to brightly colored things? I kinda always wanted a rainbow kitchen. I love cooking, and am looking forward to magnetic spice racks, hanging pots, and a magnetic knife rack. These are things that would make my kitchen more fun, but for some reason I never spent money on them, because it didn't seem necessary. Hah, that was the old me. The new me spends exorbitant amounts of greenbacks on fancy fuckin' pasta pots. My sweetheart adores pasta and his favorite color is blue. I would be a lousy girlfriend if I didn't purchase that pot over there to the left. Seriously. It would be flat out cruel of me. And the whistle on my tea kettle doesn't work right anymore, so a new one is justified. The orange wok... well, it's just really cool, and I like to cook with woks. It will also be nice to have a set of cookware that matches my sofa. Kidding. I just want stainless steel, and ELO has it in purple. Purple makes me a happy monster.
I have also made some more crystals, and am getting ready to apply to all sorts of craft shows all over the state. I will be adding hanging terrariums, and possibly a few other things to my booth, so I am looking forward to that. The big shows start in May, so I am going to try out the Seven Mile Fair until then. The Seven Mile Fair is a popular, and quite large, flea market nearby. They are looking for more artsey craftsy folk, and are currently offering them there types discounted booth prices. I don't know how well my stuff will do there, but it is worth a shot anyway. Chris and I might head over there later to check the place out, because I seriously haven't been there in at least eight years. My goal is to sell fifty items a weekend, so we shall see how reasonable that goal is. I believe that I'll have no problem doing that once May rolls around, but who knows how March and April will play out.
Well, I had better go. More later.

Oooo, I've always, always wanted a red couch. I really hate shopping but your spree made me smile, and a little giddy! Someday when i resettle I'm going to shop my heart out on house stuff.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I am excited to ditch most of my old stuff. My purple furniture is due to be replaced anyway (got a lot of use out of that stuff, but I would never recommend micro fiber or micro suede to anybody), and there is no sense in paying thousands of dollars to move a butt load of furniture that I am tired of anyhow. I want a fresh start someplace new, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting rid of things.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I'm getting all excited about it again.
